Show support, share your talents and connect & impact your community!

Missouri Credit Union launched a new community involvement program, called Show, Share, Connect on January 5, 2009. The purpose of the program is to create the opportunity for all employees to give back to their communities. Show, Share, Connect allows employees to volunteer at non-for-profit organizations for up to eight hours a year during the work day. MCU has nearly 100 employees so we hope to contribute close to 8000 volunteer hours in 2010.

St. Francis Xavier School Wins, Thanks to Volunteer Efforts

St. Francis Xavier School in Taos, Missouri won $100,000 in US Cellular's "Calling All Communities" on Friday, February 26, 2010. The school consists of 182 students who along with their parents, school teachers and staff joined forces. From late-December through mid-January, they visited the local US Cellular location to vote St. Xavier as their favorite school. Their come-from-behind effort was orchestrated largely by the parents' social networking through Facebook and other efforts to acquire as many one-per-person-votes as they could for their favored school. Votes could be cast by visiting a US Cellular location and purchasing additional services or filling out a vote card. "St. Xavier" votes were among the 430,000 cast for 6,800 schools across America.

Amy Juergensmeyer, AVP/Compliance Officer, participated in the effort through the MCU's volunteerism program "Show, Share, Connect". She wrote, "I just wanted to thank you for believing in volunteerism. It is that spirit that allowed me to work on this wonderful campaign for our school.

At the end of December, they ranked 80th. St. Xavier was the eighth school out of 10 schools awarded the money during a surprise visit. School officials, parents and US Cellular executives surprised classes unannounced and invited everyone to the gymnasium for the official announcement and presentation.
